Meet Stephanie Kacena of Stay Home Pet Sitting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Kacena.

Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.

Hi, I am a Houston native. After college, I entered the oil & gas industry as a graphic designer then worked for investment banks as a geoscience technician. Starting a pet sitting company was never in my plans. Although my passion for animals and marketing background thought different. I created a logo, learned how to build a website and mastered the world of SEO and social media marketing. Then, dedicated my spare time to my true love – animals.

Quickly after “going live”, I realized that I wasn’t the only one that was crazy about their fur-family like I am about my four-legged baby, Dodger! When it comes to his well-being, I am a Mama-Bear who will make sure he is safe, happy, and healthy. I know I take good care of him, but what happens if I need to work long hours or go out of town? Traditional kenneling was not acceptable to me – caging up my animals and exposing them to other pets’ illnesses will never be a solution for my furry family.

Pet owners alike need and desire a solid reliable pet sitter that could take their worries away. Today, we are a team of professional pet sitters that hold the same passion – your pets!

Has it been a smooth road?

The hiring process has been a struggle for me.

Most applicants think it’s just about petting pups and kitties – it’s not. We take pride in communication and going above and beyond for our clients. Ideally, I’d find applicants as thorough and detail-oriented as I am. That’s tough, so I’ve had to keep in mind during interviews, that there won’t be another me. Nevertheless, there will be great candidates that bring qualifications to the company that I may fall short on.

I love the diversity of Houston. We’re a melting pot of beautiful ethnicities that brings our city different cultures and my most favorite – great food!
